Life is fragile - Covid-19 first casualty in Malaysia

Life is fragile - Covid-19 first casualty in Malaysia

Any death is sad, more so, at a time such as this.

Pastor David Cheng Lip Kiong, became the first case Covid-19 casualty in Malaysia on 17 March 2020 11 am.

https://www.thestar.com.my/news/nation/2020/03/17/pastor-from-sarawak-is-first-covid-19-fatality-in-malaysia#cxrecs_s

Pastor David composed quite a few songs and he had them in YouTube. His song quoted this song "Over All" as a tribute to his dad's passing.

From Ps David’s son , Anders Cheng:

Hi everyone, thank you for your support and prayers for all these few days . My dad will be cremated later today and because of the lockdown , how the memorial service would be done may be very different.  As of now , I'm concern more of my mom and sis and pray that their immunity will clear it without any further complications.  Give us some time to grief but fret not , we are still at peace.  Death has no string because my dad is in a place where there is no more pain , sickness ,grief , sorrows or worries and he's in a better place than all of us.  So with that , we are putting our garments of praise and still rejoicing through this storm.  As my dad's song goes ,

Over all over all
He's the ruler over all
And my life in Him is secured

Pray with me for my health too that I won't be tested positive and my sister and mom will be ok .

We will come out stronger. Thank you

Psalm 91 Sermons on Healing

Dancing in the Storms Song by Ashley Low

Dancing in the Storms Song by Ashley Low

Testimony by Ashley :

This is a song God has given me to minister to many who are sick. I wrote this song when Lord Jesus down load the whole song to me on the flight from Singapore to KL.
It was the time my faith was shaken when my husband had his 5th relapse of his cancer even though I witnessed the power of God that resurrected him from dead to alive in 2008 when he had his 4 th relapse of cancer.

Without treatment for 1 year, his nose started bleeding non stop. Doctors can’t do anything anymore.
This was the journey of my faith believing and trusting God that this battle belongs to God. He will deliver Tony out of this adversity.

We continue trusting God sharing our testimony . Hallelujah! Our Lord reign! He did it again . We serve an awesome awesome God!
We continue to serve Him whole heartedly.
I sang this song on Easter Sunday while we were sharing at Sungai way Methodist church. Our Lord Jesus name is lifted up and glorified. He is exalted to the highest!

May this song minister to you when you hear it. This song has broken the chain on my sister who was a staunch Taoist. The lord has set her free at her brink of death in Melbourne hospital on 25 Nov 2018 midnight when she received the song. Tony and I were sharing our testimony at FGB dinner at Corus hotel .
God is good all the time. We truly serve an awesome God!🙏

The start of the concern on COVID-19 Pandemic

Right from China's Wuhan Lock-down, there werer quick actions from the local churches on taking precautions measures to get the members ready for a pandemic situation.

From the desk of Rev Renny Khoo
Coronavirus Outbreak Advisory
29 Jan 2020

Dear BCCM KKE members and friends,

We are well aware of the escalating situation pertaining to the Coronavirus
outbreak. May God have mercy, as we pray for Wuhan and also for ourselves
here in Sabah, Malaysia.

I am writing to ask all of us to render your prayers, and understanding. We want
to be wise and to take precautions, all in the spirit of loving and protecting one
another as the larger family of Christ. Hence, I call the following measures to be
practiced, particularly during Sunday services:

1. Please pay attention to personal hygiene; particularly be diligent in
washing your hands. The church has made available hand sanitizers at the
info desk. Please use them.

2. Please bring your own facemasks. However the church has made
available limited facemasks at the info desk. Please do not abuse this
availability.

3. This season, we express our greetings and blessings of one another by
bowing, a head nod, or a salute!
J We refrain from shaking hands.

4. It is good practice to bring a bottle of (warm/hot) water. Keep your throat
moist and stay hydrated.

5. Be considerate; cover your mouth when sneezing or coughing during
church service.

In realising the fragility of life, we are reminded that only in God we have eternal
security. We continue to pray for divine intervention, for China, and the various
responsible parties attempting to find solutions to this situation.

In Him,
Rev Renny Khoo

Prayers to end Covid-19

Don't Waste this epidemic

What a time of reflection for us all...

Title:  Don't waste this epidemic.

(A translated article by a Christian in China)

 1. If you do not believe that the epidemic is allowed by God, you will waste the epidemic.

Everything happens with the permission of God.  The spread of the virus, God did not stop immediately, he must have a higher and better purpose.

2. If you only rely on outside protection instead of seeking comfort from God, you will waste this epidemic.

“Some trust in chariots, and some in horses, but we trust in the name of the Lord our God" (Psalm 20: 7)

 3. If you refuse to consider death, you will waste this epidemic.

Ecclesiastes 7: 2 says: "Because death is the end of all men, the living will take it to heart."  If you don't want to think about it, how can you take it to heart.  Psalm 90:12 says, "Teach us how to number our days so that we may get a heart of wisdom.”

4. If you only want the epidemic to stop as soon as possible, but just to live a  normal life without seeking to understand God ’s will and cherish Christ more, you will waste the epidemic.

-Satan and God have different purpose for this outbreak.
-Satan wants to use the epidemic to undermine your love for Christ, and God wants to deepen your love for Christ.  If so you are dead, the virus has not won.  But if you still do not cherish Christ, Satan triumphs.
-God's purpose is to take you out of the ordinary things of this world, and to taste the abundance in Christ, "I also consider all things as rubbish, in order that I may gain Christ.”So you also know clearly: "For to me to live is Christ, and to die is gain.” Philippians 3: 8; 1:21).

5. If you spend too much time reading the information about the epidemic, but you don’t have enough time to read the Word of God, you will waste the epidemic.

There is nothing wrong with understanding more the epidemic situation, but you can't help. Instead learn more and lead to a better understanding of God's enthusiasm, you will not waste your time. We must know Jehovah, and strive to know the Lord.”(Hos. 6: 3).  "Blessed is he who loves the law of the Lord and meditates day and night. He is like a tree planted by streams of water that yields its fruit in the season, and its leaf dies not wither. In all that he does, he prospers.”(Psalm  1:2-3)

What a waste if we read the information about the epidemic day and night instead of God's Word!

6. If you treat your sin as casually as before, you will waste this epidemic.

Are you still tolerating sin, just like when the epidemic didn't come?  The epidemic is used to destroy the desire for sin: pride, greed, hatred, irritability, laziness, procrastination ... all these are enemies to attack.

Don't just think about fighting the epidemic, but think about fighting your lust together with the epidemic.  "For what does it profit a man if he gains the whole world and lose himself or be cast away? (Luke 9:25).

7. If you do not make good use of this epidemic and make it an opportunity to witness to the true and glorious Christ, you are wasting this epidemic.

Christians do not appear by accident anywhere. God has a purpose to all Christians in any situation.

Think of what Jesus said: "They will lay their hands on you and persecute you, delivering you up to the synagogues and prisons, and you will be brought before kings and governors for my name’s sake.”(Luke 21: 12-13).

Therefore, the epidemic is also a good opportunity to witness for the glory of God.

❤ Remember: you are not alone.  "My God will supply every need of yours according to his riches in glory in Christ Jesus.”(Philippians 4:19)

Hands that Broke Bread

Sermon Outline 01/03/2020 Reach Out Series
Topic : Hands that Broke Bread
Text : John 2 :1-17
Speaker : Rev. Renny Khoo

Meals nourish our bodies and are a significant part of our lives. We celebrate many events of
our lives with meals such as weddings, birthdays, anniversaries and entertain our guests over
meals. Festivals are celebrated with meals. Sometimes misunderstandings with friends are
settled over a meal. Central to meals are the role our hands play in preparing the meals, serving
the meals and eating the meals. Meals and banquets are often featured in the gospels and in
the life of Jesus. Jesus often introduces significant ideas and teachings over meals. Jesus often
uses meals as metaphors and teaching aids.

The Gospels record many instances where meals were shared such as at the wedding at Cana,
supper at Mathew’s house, the feeding of 5,000 and the breaking of bread at the Last Supper.
Many parables about meals were taught to the disciples, such as The Wedding Banquet, the
Prodigal Son.

After Jesus was crucified and resurrected, there was much chaos and confusion, and the
disciples felt lost. The things the disciples had hoped to see did not take place. What had been
predicted about the restoration of Kingdom of God had not happened. Despondency set in
among the disciples. It was at this juncture that Jesus came to them.
(Read John 21: 1-17)
Jesus had prepared breakfast for them and invited them for the meal. When Jesus was cooking
the fish, the disciples would have observed His nail scarred hands, reminding them of the horror
and trauma of the crucifixion. Those were the hands that healed and touched the sick and
suffering. When Jesus served bread and fish to the disciples, they remembered how Jesus took
bread, gave thanks and gave them to eat. As they accepted the food from Jesus, they felt those
hands emanate energy and life and with a stab of joy, the disciples realized that Jesus is still
alive. The hopes and dreams on the restoration of the Kingdom of God has not died. Jesus is
alive today and He is still at work. God is alive and God is still at work, even today, whether we
know it or not and whether we feel it or not. God is alive.

After breakfast, the mood changed as there was a tense and challenging exchange between
Jesus and Peter when Jesus asked Peter “Do you love Me?” In verses 15-17, Jesus took the
example of the meal to turn it to a metaphor to teach about the future: “Feed My Sheep”, “Tend
My Lambs”.

3 Observations from the statements:
1) Hands that provide (Jn. 21: 5-6)
Jesus asks “Children, you have no fish have you?” and He then said, “Cast your net over
to the right side of the boat and you will find some.” God is the source of everything. He

is the provider and the giver and He will guide and direct us. He empowers us, sustains
us, gives us wisdom and shows us the way. Look to God as your source of provision, not
just in wealth, but in health, talent and time management. God is the provider of peace,
hope and joy. He teaches and guides. “Cast your net to the right side of the boat and you
will find some.”

2) Hands that share (Jn. 21: 10,12)
“Bring some fish=.. Come and have breakfast.” Jesus invites us to have breakfast with
Him. How do you feel when someone invites you for breakfast or for a meal? Do you feel
good, loved, accepted, feel the warmth and fellowship of your host? Jesus’ hands bless
you with His fellowship and friendship, with His presence and His companionship, with
comfort and guidance.

3) Hands that nudge you to share (Jn. 21: 15-17)
Three times Jesus asked Peter “Do you love Me ?” and followed by “Feed My sheep==
Tend My lambs=..” Implied in the question was: “What will you do for Me?” In the same
way, Jesus wants us to share with others. The Holy Spirit will always nudge us to do it.
We are blessed so that we can bless others.
(The drawing of “The Praying Hands” by Albrecht Durer is a story of love and sacrifice of
the older brother Albert Durer that has far reaching impact in the growth of Christian faith.
It was the age of Reformation when the bible was made available to the common people.
Albert’s sacrifice enabled Albrecht to put bible stories in pictures so that the common
people could understand the Bible better)

Today Jesus is asking us: “Do you love Me?” then, “Feed my sheep” You are now My
hands in the world, My mission is now your mission – “as the Father has sent me so I
send you” (John 20:21)

The Church “Reach Out” series is a theme that was envisioned last October. It is a call to
reach out to communities, not just from our place of abundance, but even from our place
of lack. There’s something powerful when we give and reach out and share even though
we struggle from our lack, not just in finance, but in time, talent and ability. God is our
source and provider.

Questions:
1. Share testimonies of God’s goodness and kindness

2. In your daily conversations and contacts share how you can direct people to the Bread that
truly satisfies.

3. Jesus’ image of the fully realized Kingdom of God is a banquet – the Messianic banquet
where every tribe and nation will be present at the table and where there will be an
abundance of food and fellowship. How should this image of the future of those who belong
to Jesus affect our attitudes and the way we live and act now?
