A New Season, A New Anointing

Isaiah 43:18-21

““Forget the former things; do not dwell on the past. See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it? I am making a way in the wilderness and streams in the wasteland. The wild animals honor me, the jackals and the owls, because I provide water in the wilderness and streams in the wasteland, to give drink to my people, my chosen, the people I formed for myself that they may proclaim my praise.”

2 Corinthians 5:17-21

“Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here! All this is from God, who reconciled us to himself through Christ and gave us the ministry of reconciliation: that God was reconciling the world to himself in Christ, not counting people’s sins against them. And he has committed to us the message of reconciliation. We are therefore Christ’s ambassadors, as though God were making his appeal through us. We implore you on Christ’s behalf: Be reconciled to God. God made him who had no sin to be sin for us, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God.”

Don’t be Discouraged

Hebrews 6:1-15

“Therefore let us move beyond the elementary teachings about Christ and be taken forward to maturity, not laying again the foundation of repentance from acts that lead to death, and of faith in God, instruction about cleansing rites, the laying on of hands, the resurrection of the dead, and eternal judgment. And God permitting, we will do so. It is impossible for those who have once been enlightened, who have tasted the heavenly gift, who have shared in the Holy Spirit, who have tasted the goodness of the word of God and the powers of the coming age and who have fallen away, to be brought back to repentance. To their loss they are crucifying the Son of God all over again and subjecting him to public disgrace. Land that drinks in the rain often falling on it and that produces a crop useful to those for whom it is farmed receives the blessing of God. But land that produces thorns and thistles is worthless and is in danger of being cursed. In the end it will be burned. Even though we speak like this, dear friends, we are convinced of better things in your case—the things that have to do with salvation. God is not unjust; he will not forget your work and the love you have shown him as you have helped his people and continue to help them. We want each of you to show this same diligence to the very end, so that what you hope for may be fully realized. We do not want you to become lazy, but to imitate those who through faith and patience inherit what has been promised. When God made his promise to Abraham, since there was no one greater for him to swear by, he swore by himself, saying, “I will surely bless you and give you many descendants.” And so after waiting patiently, Abraham received what was promised.”

God as Promise Keeper

“In those days Hezekiah became ill and was at the point of death. The prophet Isaiah son of Amoz went to him and said, “This is what the Lord says: Put your house in order, because you are going to die; you will not recover.” Hezekiah turned his face to the wall and prayed to the Lord, “Remember, Lord, how I have walked before you faithfully and with wholehearted devotion and have done what is good in your eyes.” And Hezekiah wept bitterly. Then the word of the Lord came to Isaiah: “Go and tell Hezekiah, ‘This is what the Lord, the God of your father David, says: I have heard your prayer and seen your tears; I will add fifteen years to your life. And I will deliver you and this city from the hand of the king of Assyria. I will defend this city. “ ‘This is the Lord’s sign to you that the Lord will do what he has promised: I will make the shadow cast by the sun go back the ten steps it has gone down on the stairway of Ahaz.’ ” So the sunlight went back the ten steps it had gone down.”

“In those days Hezekiah became ill and was at the point of death. Before Isaiah had left the middle court, the word of the Lord came to him: “Go back and tell Hezekiah, the ruler of my people, ‘This is what the Lord, the God of your father David, says: I have heard your prayer and seen your tears; I will heal you. On the third day from now you will go up to the temple of the Lord. I will add fifteen years to your life. And I will deliver you and this city from the hand of the king of Assyria. I will defend this city for my sake and for the sake of my servant David.’ ” Then Isaiah said, “Prepare a poultice of figs.” They did so and applied it to the boil, and he recovered. Hezekiah had asked Isaiah, “What will be the sign that the Lord will heal me and that I will go up to the temple of the Lord on the third day from now?” Isaiah answered, “This is the Lord’s sign to you that the Lord will do what he has promised: Shall the shadow go forward ten steps, or shall it go back ten steps?” “It is a simple matter for the shadow to go forward ten steps,” said Hezekiah. “Rather, have it go back ten steps.” Then the prophet Isaiah called on the Lord, and the Lord made the shadow go back the ten steps it had gone down on the stairway of Ahaz.”

The Time We Have Is Precious

by Ronnie Wilson, Dublin, 1986?

The time we have is precious, we have no time to waste

In looking over shoulders to see who’ll take our place.

We need to have a vision and not a sense of lack;

You’ll never make decisions if you keep on looking back.

The fields are white to harvest, the laborers are few.

And word come to believers, “What now will you do?”

Will you sit in introspection until the coming day?

Or will you rise like young men and will you lead the way?

We can’t boast of tomorrow, we only have today.

The past lies dead behind us, forgotten along the way.

Let faith rise up among us, to see His Kingdom come;

And let us run the race with joy, let’s see his will be done.

God looks for a people, the faithful and the strong,

To speak to situations and cause things to be borne.

Captives of a vision, singers of a song,

Who only live to see His Kingdom come.

Will we be that people, or will he pass us by?

Is there no one among us who’ll even dare to try?

Or will his zeal consume us, and will our lives be run,

Seeing kingdoms overthrown in the Name of God’s dear Son.

The Promise of Revival

The Promise of  Revival

“When all these blessings and curses I have set before you come on you and you take them to heart wherever the Lord your God disperses you among the nations, and when you and your children return to the Lord your God and obey him with all your heart and with all your soul according to everything I command you today, then the Lord your God will restore your fortunes and have compassion on you and gather you again from all the nations where he scattered you. Even if you have been banished to the most distant land under the heavens, from there the Lord your God will gather you and bring you back. He will bring you to the land that belonged to your ancestors, and you will take possession of it. He will make you more prosperous and numerous than your ancestors. The Lord your God will circumcise your hearts and the hearts of your descendants, so that you may love him with all your heart and with all your soul, and live. The Lord your God will put all these curses on your enemies who hate and persecute you. You will again obey the Lord and follow all his commands I am giving you today. Then the Lord your God will make you most prosperous in all the work of your hands and in the fruit of your womb, the young of your livestock and the crops of your land. The Lord will again delight in you and make you prosperous, just as he delighted in your ancestors, if you obey the Lord your God and keep his commands and decrees that are written in this Book of the Law and turn to the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul.”

Divine Praying Journal

 Lectio Divina:

 Devotional Bible-Reading

Isaiah 26:3 NIV

You will keep in perfect peace

those whose minds are steadfast,

because they trust in you.

Step 1 – Read

Desiring the Simple Presence of God

Using the intellect, we seek for the objective meaning of the Text.

Bible Reading :

Characters :

Who are the characters ?

Circumstance :

Where, when, why, how ?

Teaching :

What does the text say ?

Step 2 – Meditate

Desiring a Personal Understanding of His Word

Using the heart, we find what the text is saying to me

– the individual is challenged by the text.

Bible - Text for Meditation

What is the text telling me?

How does it affect my life ?

What does it remind me of ?

Step 3 – Pray

Desiring Knowledge of God’s Will

Using our whole Being, we converse with God through prayer. A.C.T S. – Adoration, Confession, Thanksgiving and Supplication (Petition)

Prayer as Consecration of Life Experiences to God

Adoration (Praise): Praise the Lord for the glimpse of His love that this text offers you.

Confession: What do I recognise is wrong in my life and needs to change?

Thanksgiving: How does this text stir gratitude in my heart? For what am I thankful?

Supplication for ourselves: What petitions does this text inspire me to ask of the Father?

Supplication for others: Who does this text inspire me to pray on behalf of?

Prayer: Consecration of Life Experiences to God

Step 4 – Contemplate

Desiring to Obey God

“We take up, as a gift from God, his own way of seeing and judging reality, and ask ourselves what conversion of mind, heart and life is the Lord asking of us? Contemplation aims at creating within us a truly wise and discerning vision of reality, as God sees it, and at forming within us “the mind of Christ” (1Cor 2:16).”

Pope Benedict XVI

What conversion of mind, heart, and life is the Lord asking of me?

Conclusion – Action

The process of Lectio Divina is concluded when it arrives at action.

We use our will to cooperate with God’s grace to act upon the word of God.

What is it that I am supposed to do?

How should I plan on doing it?

Praying Romans 8:28

Romans 8:28

“And we know that in all things God works for the good who love Him, who have been called according to His purpose.” Romans 8:28

PRAYER: “God, You promise in Your Word that in all things You work for my good. Right now, there are circumstances in my life that don’t feel good and that I can’t see an ounce of good in (talk to God about the specific situations that are causing you difficulty or pain). Even though this is how I feel, I choose to believe Your truth over my feelings. When You say You will work in all things for my good, I believe You. Even in situations that seem hopeless, I know You are working on my behalf and that You want more for me than I could ever want for myself. Thank You for having a purpose for me and for working all my circumstances for good.”

Thank you Heavenly Father for you are a all-knowing, all-presence God. You are present in my life and in my loved one's lives. In your infinite wisdom and power, there is mercy and grace and your keen eyes searches the earth over and makes sure that we are safe and be under your divine protection. When vices and evils roams the earth, you send your spirit forth to roam alongside to counter them and your spirit covers over the whole earth.

Christms in August - The Child-King

Christmas in August
Child-King

“Nevertheless, there will be no more gloom for those who were in distress. In the past he humbled the land of Zebulun and the land of Naphtali, but in the future he will honor Galilee of the nations, by the Way of the Sea, beyond the Jordan— The people walking in darkness have seen a great light; on those living in the land of deep darkness a light has dawned. You have enlarged the nation and increased their joy; they rejoice before you as people rejoice at the harvest, as warriors rejoice when dividing the plunder. For as in the day of Midian’s defeat, you have shattered the yoke that burdens them, the bar across their shoulders, the rod of their oppressor. Every warrior’s boot used in battle and every garment rolled in blood will be destined for burning, will be fuel for the fire. For to us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be on his shoulders. And he will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. Of the greatness of his government and peace there will be no end. He will reign on David’s throne and over his kingdom, establishing and upholding it with justice and righteousness from that time on and forever. The zeal of the Lord Almighty will accomplish this.”

Write the Vision

Envision the results
Think through the process
Begin with the end in mind
Write down your vision
Make a Vision Board
State your milestones
Begin Charting your journey towards the end goals

You have not because you ask not
Write your vision into a prayer
Pray that vision
Have faith in it
When you lose faith, have faith in God
For God will make it comes true
You just have to commit to work hard on the list

~ Doria, July 2023

In the Bible, Habakkuk 2:2-3 has a very clear verse about importance of having a vision clearly written out like, like write it BIG, on a tablet, so big that as a runner run passes that tablet, it could read it. Writing the vision details on a board making it easier to be read. Almost like a banner in the room, road sign or street name. This is the ancient way calling it Tablets and in the current age, we could this the Vision Board. For a vision to come to fruitation, it has to go through meticulous planning, hardwork and enduring challenges. It will take a long time to await for the appointed time of completion of the vision. If it seems like taking longer or too long or delayed, the older English word is "tarry", do not lose hope, do not lose faith, wait for it ! For those who put their faith and hope in God, it will surely come to pass ! This is a promise for those who wait on the Lord, who commits their life to Him and acknowledges the provisions of God in our earthly mortal life.

Steve Harvey gave a good talk on this verse and also the other verse about asking the Lord in faith for what we desire to achieve in our vision.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DlMAIYd7-J4&t=9s

Habakkuk 2:4 says : The righteous will live by his faithfulness and not puffed up. We are to recognise that we dream the vision, we work towards it, ultimately God is the one to bring it to fruitation for our life and our being is in God's loving hands. Our job is to remain faithful towards God and follow Christ in our daily living.

Family Retreat

“Eli’s sons were scoundrels; they had no regard for the Lord. Now it was the practice of the priests that, whenever any of the people offered a sacrifice, the priest’s servant would come with a three-pronged fork in his hand while the meat was being boiled and would plunge the fork into the pan or kettle or caldron or pot. Whatever the fork brought up the priest would take for himself. This is how they treated all the Israelites who came to Shiloh. But even before the fat was burned, the priest’s servant would come and say to the person who was sacrificing, “Give the priest some meat to roast; he won’t accept boiled meat from you, but only raw.” If the person said to him, “Let the fat be burned first, and then take whatever you want,” the servant would answer, “No, hand it over now; if you don’t, I’ll take it by force.” This sin of the young men was very great in the Lord’s sight, for they were treating the Lord’s offering with contempt. But Samuel was ministering before the Lord—a boy wearing a linen ephod. Each year his mother made him a little robe and took it to him when she went up with her husband to offer the annual sacrifice. Eli would bless Elkanah and his wife, saying, “May the Lord give you children by this woman to take the place of the one she prayed for and gave to the Lord.” Then they would go home. And the Lord was gracious to Hannah; she gave birth to three sons and two daughters. Meanwhile, the boy Samuel grew up in the presence of the Lord. Now Eli, who was very old, heard about everything his sons were doing to all Israel and how they slept with the women who served at the entrance to the tent of meeting. So he said to them, “Why do you do such things? I hear from all the people about these wicked deeds of yours. No, my sons; the report I hear spreading among the Lord’s people is not good. If one person sins against another, God may mediate for the offender; but if anyone sins against the Lord, who will intercede for them?” His sons, however, did not listen to their father’s rebuke, for it was the Lord’s will to put them to death. And the boy Samuel continued to grow in stature and in favor with the Lord and with people. Now a man of God came to Eli and said to him, “This is what the Lord says: ‘Did I not clearly reveal myself to your ancestor’s family when they were in Egypt under Pharaoh? I chose your ancestor out of all the tribes of Israel to be my priest, to go up to my altar, to burn incense, and to wear an ephod in my presence. I also gave your ancestor’s family all the food offerings presented by the Israelites. Why do you scorn my sacrifice and offering that I prescribed for my dwelling? Why do you honor your sons more than me by fattening yourselves on the choice parts of every offering made by my people Israel?’ “Therefore the Lord, the God of Israel, declares: ‘I promised that members of your family would minister before me forever.’ But now the Lord declares: ‘Far be it from me! Those who honor me I will honor, but those who despise me will be disdained. The time is coming when I will cut short your strength and the strength of your priestly house, so that no one in it will reach old age, Every one of you that I do not cut off from serving at my altar I will spare only to destroy your sight and sap your strength, and all your descendants will die in the prime of life. “ ‘And what happens to your two sons, Hophni and Phinehas, will be a sign to you—they will both die on the same day. I will raise up for myself a faithful priest, who will do according to what is in my heart and mind. I will firmly establish his priestly house, and they will minister before my anointed one always. Then everyone left in your family line will come and bow down before him for a piece of silver and a loaf of bread and plead, “Appoint me to some priestly office so I can have food to eat.” ’ ””

God's Ideas about Family through the lens of Marriage Relationship
Why do you think God started "family" with a marriage relationship instead of a parental relationship or a sibling relationship ?

Marriage - equal ground, not lord over one another
Sacrifical relationship
Protective relationship
Nurturing relationship
Bone of my bone, flesh of my flesh, couple are one
Husband and wife submit to God, wife submit to husband

Parental relationship is hierachy, order
Siblings - same level

Building Blocks for building relationship within family

Complimenting
Assuring Confidence
Comforting
Couching

(Temporary Backup) Mother’s Day Reflection 2023

1 Samuel
Love with the love of the cross

Love the unlovable
Forgive the unforgivable
Cherish the uncherishable

Touch the untouchables
Reach the unreachable
Embrace the offensive

Choose the unworthy

Receive the hurtful
the unkind

Just 3 words
Just 3 nails
Just 3 days

As you take time off
to recover
to recharge
to rebuild
May you see your divine destiny
to be healed
to be refreshed
to be revived
As the daughter of The King
You are precious
You are special
You are loved
